I prefer Solidworks, personally, but only slightly. Both are pleasantly easy to start using (more so than Autocad) - everything is on the ribbon and very discoverable. Later if you will want to render you designs, with autodesk you will have more options, menthal ray and v-ray, with solidworks you will be stuck with 360 and visualize.

Being most widely used 3D CAD program on the planet, it’s less expensive than CATIA. AutoDesk’s Inventor is a competitor for SolidWorks, but it’s newer and couldn’t tackle SolidWorks’ market share, till date. SolidWorks is used by more number of industries in the product designing and manufacturing sector mainly because it is more affordable. The first one is, AutoCAD software was initially released 36 years ago in December 1989 by Autodesk and also maintaining by Autodesk nowadays, while SolidWorks is a software, which was developed 24 years ago in November 1995 by Dassault Systemes, a developer of CATIA software in 1997. While I prefer Inventor over solidworks, it is best to have knowledge of both. They are very similar so when you learn one, the other will be easy to adapt to.

Y por último, Solidworks puede abrir archivos de Inventor y reconocer sus operaciones, pero Inventor no puede abrir archivos de Solidworks. Yo soy usuario de Inventor, hace varios años, me dedico al tema de diseño de moldes, y espero que no se lo tomen a mal, pero el colega que comenta acerca de Solidworks o Inventor para el tema de moldes, le comento que Solidworks es el ideal para el caso de moldes, simplemente por que el mismo trae un menu (en el basico del soft), sobre moldes cosa que Inventor en este sentido deja mucho que SolidWorks and AutoCAD are both industry leaders in CAD software, but your choice will depend on your style of design.

I will try to give a surface level comparison. Both packages are parametric and good. Moreover if you learn one the other gets easier.
